“Yup. Everyone needs a Bob,” he says giggling.
I stand up from my chair and walk toward the office door. “I'll leave you two love birds to it, and I'll see if I can find mine,” I say. “Just don’t lock the door, we have to get up to the roof later.”
“I'll leave it on the catch for you,” Bob says as he helps Britney hobble to the stairs.
I see Britney climb onto Bob’s back as he carries her up the steps. Another couple who have found each other in this whole crazy chain of events. It’s uncanny, the whole scenario.
I walk across the courtyard and into the club. This time I see dancers and hear music so I know I haven’t been drugged. “They’re looking much better now than a couple of days ago,” I say to Cally.
“The girls from the bike club have raised the bar for the others, it was a good idea to bring them,” Cally says.
“We have a couple of routines planned that are based on the bike shows, some are nasty,” I reply with a wicked grin.
“Damn, that will be fun and something different.”
I lean onto the chair at the side of Cally. “What does Ty think of this heist we’re planning?”
“Same as everyone else. These guys are ruining the development of Vegas. Why should they get rich off the back of doing their job?”
“You don’t think it's wrong though, do you?”
“It isn’t really their money, so no, I don’t. It was the same with Beau and The Kingmaker’s assets. All that went down and no one even knew, apart from the stock market,” Cally explains.
“I'm probably just worrying about it for no real reason.”
Cally smiles at me. “We have the Russians, and there is always Drake who can help if we need him.”
“I think it's better if we concentrate on the club and leave all that to the guys,” I say.
“We're nearly set with it all. A few more days of rehearsing and then it's a dry run for the girls. All the other staff are waiting.”
I laugh. “Dealers… that was the problem.”
“No more, all that’s been sorted. I have enough for two shifts with backup,” Brent says walking into the club with his arms raised.
“How did you manage that? I thought only you and Mikey went out?”
“I took Karen with me, it’s been a hell of a day,” Brent says.
“Bell has been looking all over for you. Owen was helping her soften things up in the bedroom earlier,” I say.
“Hmm. While the cats away, the mice will play,” Brent mumbles as he walks to his apartment. “All this interior decorating drives me bananas!”
I begin laughing. “Bell was only hanging curtains.”
“Janey, leave him alone. Bell gives him enough shit,” Cally says.
“I think you should let them knock off for tonight, it's getting late,” I say. “And I have to find Owen.”
I leave Cally and check the area by the bar and the restaurant. There is no sign there or in the office. I head to the courtyard and see him under the archway on his cell phone.
Owen steps away from the shadows. I see the frown on his face. “What’s wrong?” I ask.
Owen shakes his head. “My sister, the one in the coma. She’s gone.”
“What do you mean… gone? Like, passed?”
“From the hospital. They went to check on her and her room was empty.”
“Who would take her?” I ask, confused.
“The way things are, it has to be The Kingmaker's daughter. My sister is no use for anything at all. To anyone.”
“You want to go down to Philly?’ I ask.
“There is nothing I can do, all we can do is wait and see if anything happens,” Owen replies. He looks devastated. I feel my heart breaking for him.
“It's one puzzle after another, none of them have any sense of rational meaning, or clue as to why it’s like it is,” I say.
Owen shakes his head. “A ruse.”
“A what?”
“A ruse, that’s all they all are. Small acts to deceive us. I think someone is playing with us. We're being manipulated,” Owen says.
“We can’t do anymore, now. Let’s just get on the roof and cuddle up under the stars again.” I pull myself into Owen’s embrace.
“It's one place we can go and forget all of this for a while,” Owen says.
I smile and look in his perfect eyes. “The door should be unlocked. Bob left it open for us.”
“Oh, what a tangled web we weave... when first we practice to deceive.”
Owen
“Only ones who risk going too far will find out how far one can go.”
Deep in the backs of all of our minds, we had the formulation of a plan. What seemed crude and basic, was taking on the form of something a little more structured. A plan that would leave the councilors in a state of calamity within their operation.
As with the things that had been happening around the club regarding The Kingmaker’s daughter, they had been strange. It seemed there was no real structure or logic to the things that had happened. The note about me not being a triplet, and that I had another sister. Am I part of four? Or was the one who died in the fire a real sibling, or just an innocent party? A lot of what I had been led to believe was no longer making any sense.
The builders had done some extra work on the roof, and rather than sleeping in a glorified gazebo, Janey and I had a room. A real room… or as close as one could expect for a rooftop garden structure.
There was also the addition of a shower, not a power-shower like in a hotel. This was one of those showers that you get on the beach. One you can use to wash the ocean off yourself. It was a welcome addition though, and luckily for us, the builders had constructed it. Our own element of privacy.
The last addition that came as a bit of a blessing was a makeshift bed… or a futon. It all depended on how you looked at it. It wasn’t in the futon category, so to me, it was a fold-out bed.
I lift my arms up and stretch my muscles. Swinging my legs from the bed, I turn to Janey. “I thought you were still sleeping.”
Janey shakes her head on her pillow. “I was watching you stretching.”
“In a perverted way, or an adoration way?” I ask with a smile.
“In a I’m-glad-you’re-my-guy-kind-of-guy, way,” she says, running her fingers down my spine.
“Ooh, that tickles.”
I stand and tense my chest. I feel a few muscles creaking. It must be time to visit a gym and have a decent workout.
“What do you have planned for today?” I ask as Janey sits up.
“Today, we 're going for a full dry run of the routines.”
“I'll see if I can catch some of it, it would be good to see what Brent and Bell have in store for the customers,” I reply.
“It should be really cool; the lighting effects really make a difference. They have lasers instead of spotlights which are something really different.”
“It seems as if I have a dull start to the day compared to yours,” I say.
“Why? I mean, what have you got going on?” Janey asks. “Apart from your sister taken in Philly.”
“I have to go with Tina to have a look at the precinct again, or the area surrounding that. We need a diversion, and we have to devise an actual plan of how we’ll approach the place,” I explain.
“Dusty day for you, then.”
“Very fucking dusty and very dry,” I reply.
We walk from the roof and make our way down past the girls’ sleeping quarters. Susan exits from the shower and smiles.
“Hey there,” she says.
“Morning, you're up early?” Janey says.
“I couldn’t sleep. I have been having problems. Lately, it must be the excitement.”
“Susan, a quick question for you,” Janey says.
“Yeah?”
“What is your background?” Janey asks. “I know it's a funny question for this time of morning.”
Susan looks at Janey a little apprehensively. “I
don’t have much of one. If you want to go back to childhood, I came from an orphanage. And since then, on and off. I have looked for my parents and any other family I might have.”
“Okay, just wondering,” Janey says plainly. We leave Susan as she walks back to the girls’ room.
“That was a strange question,” I say.
“I know, I just thought of it as I saw her. Even though she was at the bike club with me. I’ve never actually asked her where she came from.”
“Now you can see, she’s a drifter like most of the ones who end up there.”
“There was one thing I noticed though,” Janey says.
“What’s that?”
“She has a birthmark in nearly the same place you do,” Janey says smiling.
“I have a birthmark?” I reply, feeling shocked.
“Yeah, didn’t you know?”
“Where is it?” I ask.
“On your shoulder, but yours is quite faint.”
“No one has ever mentioned it before. And, I'm not really going to be able to see it on my shoulder, am I?” She gives me that look women give when they are unimpressed by a man’s sarcastic tone.
We move from the bottom of the stairs and walk into Bob's office. Britney is on the couch in some of the smallest shorts I have ever seen. It seems they’re just about to be swallowed up by the lips of her pussy.
“Can you cover yourself up?” I say plainly. “Bob will have a fit looking at you like that. He won’t be able to concentrate.”
Britney looks at her shorts. “Oops! Sorry Owen, I never noticed.” She grins at me and then she laughs.
Bob sighs. “Sorry Bob, you have to keep your mind on the job,” I say. “Any updates from yesterday?”
“We had a result on the whiskey. There was nothing in it.”
“Well, a dead end there.”
“Fuck. I bet there was something on the glass. Maybe not intentional, perhaps someone uses drugs and had a drink before Janey. You never know with some of these workmen.”
Bob frowns. “Not Mike’s men. There has to be another explanation.”
“It's a shame I washed the glass, maybe we could’ve had that checked,” Janey says.
“Just another piece in the puzzle,” I say.
There is a knock at the window. Tina has her face pushed against the glass and is making faces at us. I wave for her to come into the office.
“Are you nearly ready?” she asks.
“I just have to get changed into something a bit more casual, and then I'm all yours,” I say.
Janey grins at Tina. “You can do what you want with him. What happens in the desert, stays in the desert,” she says giggling.
I begin to walk up the stairs to change. Karen stands and looks down at me as I approach the top step. “How is Brent now that he has enough dealers?” I ask.
Karen giggles. “He was really stressed yesterday. We sorted it. A few were poached from Alex’s old club and there were a few friends I had scattered around in different casinos.”
I pull Karen away from the girls’ room. “Have you noticed anything strange with any of the girls? Like snooping or vanishing?” I ask.
“Most of the girls from the bike club seem okay, except Susan. She seems a little off and in a dream sometimes,” Karen says. “The other night she went out. When I woke up to go to the bathroom, she was walking toward the stairs.”
“Hmm, I think we saw her. We heard the gate open and close.” I look at her with a serious expression. “Just don’t mention it to anyone.”
Karen puts her finger to her lips. “No problem at all.”
“How is the gaming side of the club? You have all the staff now, right?”
“It's a bit different for me. I’ve been promoted around four times in as many days. I’ve gone from dealer to stand-in pit boss all the way to gaming manager. I must report directly to Brent.”
“That’s a good thing though, right?”
“Yes, I do enjoy dealing though, that was why I got into it.”
“Keep your hand in every now and again, nothing is stopping you from dealing when you want.”
Tina shouts from the bottom of the stairs. “Are you ready yet?”
“Almost,” I yell. “I better get going, things to do.”
I change quickly and make my way downstairs to where Tina is waiting impatiently.
“Sorry, I got tied up with Karen.”
“Tied up with Karen, huh?” Janey asks. She gives me a wink.
“I was just asking her a couple of questions, and one had quite an intriguing answer,” I say.
“What was that?” Janey asks curiously.
“Later. Not here.” Janey nods as I pull open the door and walk into the courtyard with Tina.
“I suppose you want me to drive?” she says.
“You do know where you're going, so it makes sense.”
Tina smiles. “At least we’ll be in a vehicle and not on Ty’s bike. That was fun but the dust is unbearable.”
I look at her and feel like I’m getting impatient. “Where is Mike? Shit, we need a vehicle.”
“The work truck is the best. I saw they have hazard signs, so we can make out we’re a regular work crew.”
I look at Tina. Her slim legs in skintight jeans and her t-shirt (with a decent pair of breasts underneath) are way too unlikely.
“Tina, the last thing you look like is a regular worker.”
“Why thanks, Owen!”
“Only ones who risk going too far will find out how far one can go.”
Janey
“It’s a relief to finally do it and get it all over with.”
Owen will be gone for a good four hours. We have a full, dress rehearsal with the girls. Cally walks toward the rear door as I tell her I'll be there soon. The girls should be ready in about thirty minutes because they know we’re starting at ten.
Maybe I can question Susan about going out in the middle of the night?
I approach the top of the stairs and I can see Susan zipping up her bag on her bunk. I walk toward her and sit on the bed next to her.
“Can we have a chat?” I ask.
“Another?” she says. She looks slightly annoyed.
“Well, I was thinking some more. We were at the club, and I don’t know much about you.”
Susan sits on her bunk and faces me. “What do you want to know?”
“Let’s start with this; a couple of nights ago, we were told you went out in the middle of the night. We saw someone, but we didn’t know who it was at the time,” I explain.
“Yeah, I went out. It was a case of having to.”
“Why? It looks suspicious, you know?”
“Drugs.”
“What, you're taking drugs?”
“I do, but it's not what you think. I'm on a prescription.”
“You’ve never mentioned it before?”
Susan shrugs her shoulders. “To be honest, the symptoms have gotten worse since I’ve been here. I’ve had some really weird dreams and I get the feeling I have done things at night and can’t remember.”
“So, these drugs, what are they for? And what are they?”
“I have one to help stop smoking, it’s called Chantix. The second one is for sleeping problems, probably from not smoking. That one is Ambien,” Susan says.
“Maybe that’s why you’ve seemed strange, and it’s even looked like you've been snooping sometimes,” I say.
“I'm in a dream half the time. Overtired, but we have to push on.”
“We thought you were The Kingmaker’s daughter?” I say.
“The who?”
“Someone from the past, don’t worry,” I reply. “You mentioned you were from an orphanage earlier?”
“Yeah, in Philly. After I finished school. I traveled around and the rest is history.”
“How did you end up in an orphanage, any idea?”
“I was told I was found in a hotel with another two babies, but you know how it is. We got sep
arated and blah, blah, blah.” Susan smiles. “And from there, I have no idea where my siblings are, or who my parents are.”
“It's sad like that. I'll ask Bob if he can find out anything. Just give me the name of the orphanage and I'll ask him to check.”
“Thanks, Janey.”
“Just out of curiosity, when did you take your last dosage of the pills. The sleeping ones?”
“Yesterday, I think. I put them into my mouth and couldn’t find my water. I had to run into the office and use that glass by the whiskey. I hope you don’t mind?” she says.
“Did you wash the glass?”
“Sorry, Janey. I can’t really remember.”
“You better get moving, we have a full rehearsal in a while.”
I watch as Susan scurries down the stairs to the courtyard, and to take her place to line up for the dress rehearsal that’s starting soon. I reach the roof and walk to the room that Owen and I are using. I grab my towel and begin to walk back to the roof door.
I walk over to the outdoor shower and look to see if anyone can see. The builders have done a good job. The stone partitions not only look trendy, but they also serve a purpose.
I turn on the faucet and let the water flow as I quickly slip from my jogging bottoms and t-shirt. I step under the falling water. My body shudders and my arms fill with goose bumps from the chill.
You forgot, its only cold water at the moment.
It's really cold, but not unpleasant, in the morning sun. My whole body feels refreshed and I can see that my nipples have budded from the initial icy blast.
Just wait ‘till you get Owen in here for a bit of icy fun!
What a perfect thought that is. I can just picture us here. Owen pushing his body against mine as I rest my back against the stone wall.
That will warm me up. Mmm… wow, he’s got a perfect body.
I begin soaping myself. My lathered hands run over my budded nipples and make me think of Owen’s hands doing the same. I try to block out the thoughts because I have to watch the show downstairs.
I rub my soapy hands over my belly and lower them to wash all my lower parts. My fingers brush over the soft lips of my pussy.
“Mmm,” I murmur as I rub my inner thighs.
